1.Lighting Plans are the Key to Success

 

The first thing you’ll want to do before buying LED UFO High Bay is to create a lighting plan. This is because different spaces need different types of lights.

For instance, a storage room may only need a light with 30 foot candles. A large warehouse might need 50 foot candles. Assembly areas need more,

70+ foot candles. Spaces like gymnasiums need bright and balanced lighting. Manufacturing facilities need bright lighting to keep the production

area safe.

2.How to Pick the Appropriate Wattage and Lumens

The amount of lights needed for the location depends on the use height and width of the area.

1) Determine a use and desired Light Distribution, ask a lighting expert for guidance, he will do photometric lighting plan and calculate Light Distribution. 

2) Then we determine appropriate lumens per fixture.                          

3) Later we space those fixtures out for good even lighting.

4) Finally consider things like dimming and beam angles adjustment.

4.Do I Need High Voltage Fixtures?

LED UFO High Bay have common voltage ranges, you must purchase these lights according to the correct voltage, eg AC220-265V is most popular for Europe.

11. How to choose the types of installations of UFO LED High Bay ?

There are generally three types of installations of UFO LED High Bay, you can choose one according to the actual situation.

 

Hook mount – This mounting option is commonly found in UFO LED high bay lights. The lights are hung with the help of a hook-enabled chain that firmly installs the light in the ceiling.

 

Bracket mount – A common installation type for LED warehouse lights is the bracket mounting type. Hooks and screws are involved in this installation process.

 

NPT installation – An NPT installation requires a screwed adjustment. In UFO LED high bay lights, a 1/2 inch grip space is needed.

1.Hook Mount

Step  Turning off the power

 

Before the installation, it’s important to make sure to turn off the power. Do not install when power is still turned on, so as not to get shocked.

Step ② Wiring

 

Connect the light’s wire to AC power. The black wire connects to live wire, the white wire connects to the neutral line, and the green wire connects to the ground wire. Make sure to not mix the wires to avoid a safety hazard.

Step  Screwing in the hook hanger

 

If the ceiling is ready to mount or if the hook is mounted already, UFO high bay light could be mounted directly through the hook. If not, you should drill a hole to mount the hook.

 

You could find a hook hanger among the accessories. First, attach the hook hanger onto the top of the UFO high bay light, then tighten the screws on the side to secure the hanger.

Step  Hanging the UFO high bay light

 

Use the hook hanger to hang the UFO high bay light onto the mounted hook. Install the hook first if there isn’t one already.

Step  Connecting the dimmer

 

If the UFO high bay light you bought has a dimming feature, you can see two extra wires to connect to your dimmer (dimmer not included), so you could adjust the light of the UFO high bay light as needed. The purple wire represents the “+” adjustment,

the gray wire represents the “-“ adjustment.

 

If you don’t need the dimming feature, you could choose not to use the two wires.

Step  Turning on the power

 

The UFO LED high bay light installs easily. After connecting it to the switch, you could turn the power back on and it will be ready to use.

2. Ceiling Mount

 

You can also mount the lights onto the ceiling using a U-shaped bracket. Compared to the above-mentioned hoop hanger method, you will need to prepare your own U-shaped bracket. Also, you can use this type of frame to adjust the angles. We recommend this method of mounting if you are particular about the lighting angle.

Step  Turning off the power

 

Same as before, the first step is to turn off the power. Do not operate when power is turned on.

Step  Connecting Wires

 

Same connection method as above, and connect to the AC power with the live wire, neutral line, and ground wire.

Step  Mounting the U-shaped bracket

 

Mount the U-shaped bracket on both sides of the UFO LED high bay light with screws and make sure the light can be hung with the frame.

Step  Hanging the U-shaped bracket

 

Measure the distance between the two holes on the U-shaped bracket, and mark the ceiling. Drill a small hole on the wall using a drill of the same diameter as the plastic expansion tube. Hammer in the expansion tube, tightened the screws through the U-shaped bracket, and secure the bracket on the ceiling. The UFO LED high bay light will thus be suspended.

Step 5. Adjusting the angle and turn on the power

 

Adjust the angle of the light via the U-shaped bracket, then connect the switch and turn on the power.

3. 1/2’’ NPT Mount

 

Apart from the methods above, you could also use a 1/2” NPT to mount the UFO LED high bay light. A steel pipe and brackets are used to hang the light, instead of mounting the bracket directly to the ceiling.

 

This is an easy way to install. First, secure the bracket onto the light, then unscrew the 1/2” NPT nut, connect the steel pipe and the bracket, tighten the 1/2” NPT nut, so that you can hang the steel pipe up. Afterward, you could follow the steps above to connect the light to AC power and check the lighting result.
